Grid Battery Storage Limited (GBSL) has been formed by two highly respected senior executives to realise the potential of battery electricity storage.
Our senior management has a wealth of experience and a proven track record in power station development and project delivery, including hydro, solar, gas and nuclear projects.
James McKellar is one of the two founding shareholders of GBSL and also 50% owner of DHG Hydro Ltd, one of the UK’s largest independently owned run of the river hydro electric project developers and owners. James is in charge of the finance team of DHG and has been project director for several of the DHG new build hydro-electric projects. James has twenty five plus years working in finance and owner development in the renewable energy and traditional power sector and has a long and successful career in the City, most recently being Co-Head of the Barclays Capital Power Team which included being head of Barclays Capital renewable energy business. At Barcap James ran the advice and finance on many billions of pounds of projects including gas fired power and desalination projects in the Middle East, Europe’s largest coal fired power station, pumped storage, wind, hydro and electricity transmission and distribution.
Andrew Blumfield is one of the two founding shareholders of GBSL. Andrew has been an independent consultant and developer since 2011. Andrew has 35 years working in electricity generation and is a recognised industry expert on the structuring, negotiation and optimisation of commercial agreements for large power plants. Andrew was previously Commercial Director Europe for InterGen, the independent power producer, where he and his team managed the portfolio of long-term power and gas agreements and established the UK and NL public affairs programmes. Prior to joining InterGen, Andrew worked for British Energy acquiring nuclear plant, large coal plant and electricity supply businesses in the UK and US. Andrew’s background is in engineering and project management.
